Unit 1: Introduction to International Business
Students will describe key concepts related to international business; explain how and why Canada’s major international business relationships have evolved over time; demonstrate an understanding of how globalization has affected international business; describe ways in which international business activity develops interdependence among nations; evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of international trade for Canada; and explain how the global market has affected consumer demand; identify the types of international businesses; describe the impact technology has had on the international business environment; identify the factors that affect foreign exchange rates; explain how the changes in the value of the Canadian dollar can affect business opportunities; identify the types of products that trade freely into and out of Canada
Unit 2: Culture, Politics and Social Responsibility
Students will analyze the ways in which cultural factors influence international business methods and operations; analyze differences across the cultures; compare, management and negotiation strategies with those in Canada; evaluate advantages and disadvantages with regard to business opportunities; analyze the rational for, and the impact of, Canadian government initiatives and policies to international trade ; assess the ways in which political, economic, and geographic factors influence international

Unit 3: Trade Organizations and Social Responsibility
Students will compare the characteristics of a multinational corporation participating in global business with those of a Canadian company focused on domestic business activity; describe international agreements and organizations that have influenced global business activity; describe Canada’s involvement in international trade organizations; evaluate ethical issues that arise in companies competition internationally; compare Canada with other countries with respect to cultural theories and viewpoints; describe the work conditions in various international markets; explain how globalization creates the need for standardization of products, services and process
